Riders: Monthly Riders meeting this Saturday November 7th at 10:00AM. Due to the Craft Fair at the Post the meeting will be held at Assistant Riders Director Tom Brady's home.
Fall Craft Fair. The annual fall Craft Fair will be on Saturday November 7th from 9:00 AM till 2:00 PM. Rain date is Sunday November 8th from 9:00AM till 2:00PM. Over 40 local crafters. Come out and support the Post.
40&8: Breakfast starts Sunday November 1st from 8:00AM to 11:00AM and run through Mother's Day. Come out and support the 40&8.
SAL: The annual Sons of the Legion Meat Raffle Fundraiser will be Saturday November 21st at 1:00PM. Great meat prizes. Steaks, Pork and More. Process to Benefit Backpack Buddies Program.
Membership Dues: If you are a member and haven't paid your Post dues for next year, please do so. National gave Post 178 a goal of 2,019 for year 2027. You will be getting a dues notice from national soon; please pay as soon as possible if you haven't paid yet.
Veteran's Day Ceremony: The post will hold our ceremony on November 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be provided by the Auxiliary after the ceremony. We will be having our Whiskey Barrel Drawing during the lunch. If you don't have you tickets for the Barrel, you can purchase them at the bar. Please support the Post.
Night with Elvis and Friends Dinner and Show. This entertaining event will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026. The doors open at 4:30 PM, dinner at 05:00 PM and showtime is 06:00PM. Cost is $40.00 a couple or $25.00 a person. Come out and enjoy a great night of delicious dinner, a live Elvis tribute show, and classic hits you know and love. Post Service Officer: William (Bill) McClure will be at the Post doing Veteran VA Claims on Monday November 9th and 23rd from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon. If you are a Veteran and need help filing a claim for benefits with the VA, come see Bill.
Attraction Books: Attraction books are here and available for purchase at the bar for $25.00 the Post keeps $12.50 of the $25.00. Get yours today and support the post.
Post Raffle: The Post is raffling off a Lighted Whiskey Barrel cabinet with lots of goodies and includes a Total Wine $150 Gift Card. Tickets can be purchased at the bar and are 8 for $5.00. The drawing will be held following our Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday November 11, 2026.
SAL Members Early Bird Renewal: The SAL Members are having their Membership Early Bird Renewal through November 30, 2026. First Place: $105, Second Place: $70 and Third Place: $35. Renew early and win.
Fisher House Donations: The Riders are continuing to collect items to be delivered to Fisher House in Charleston. The list of items needed is available at the Post, and the Donation Box is located just inside the Post entrance.
Building Fund: If you are in the Building Fund and haven't put your money in yet, you need to do so as soon as possible.
Ongoing Activities:
Be the One: The American Legion’s primary mission, Be the One, is a concentrated effort to save the lives of veterans and service members at risk of suicide. Visit the legion.org website where you can sign up for free suicide prevention training. For more information locally you can contact Post 178 Member Lana Baxter at 843-238-7143
Veterans Emergency Relief Fund: Thanks to the contribution of a member of the Post, we have a new fund to help Veterans in financial need. Only Veterans of Post 178 will be eligible, and they must be able to demonstrate an actual financial emergency such as unpaid utility bills, medical bills, transportation costs, grocery shortages, etc. Each case will be vetted individually, and documentation will be required when available. Veterans Benefits Assistance: The DAV located at 2987 Church St., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 is open every Wednesday from 9 am till 2 pm to help with any claims for veterans benefits you may have.
Red Shirt Friday: We have a special every Friday for those who wear red shirts to recognize military members who are deployed or serving. You buy two domestic beers or two well drinks from 11:00 AM till 4:00 PM. and the third one is free. You can only get one free drink once.
Donations to Veterans and Children’s Foundation: If you would like to contribute, there’s a collection box beside the weekly sign-in sheet. All donations are appreciated.
Volunteers for Bingo: We are continually in need of volunteers to help with Bingo on Thursdays and Sundays. Contact the Post or see Commander Harry Malpass or call 419 410 9046 if you can help. If you have signed up for Bingo, please see or call Caroline Calvert (631-422-4620) to schedule and time and day. Thanks
Weekly Activities:
1. Bingo. Every Sunday and Thursday starting at 6:00 PM. Our Auxiliary will have food and other refreshments for sale. Come out and support the post.
2. Bowling. Each Monday. Sign in starts at 3:30 PM, bowling starts at 4:00 PM. The kitchen will be open until 6:00 PM.
3. Team Trivia: For November will be the 7th, 21st, and 28th.
4. Wednesday Night's Dinner. Provided by the 40&8 will be Spaghetti and Meat Balls, Salad and Garlic Bread for $11.00. Karaoke follows the weekly drawing.
5. Friday Night's Dinner. This week it will be Steaks on the Grill, Baked Potato and Vegetable for $20.00. Flounder for $14.00. Karaoke at 6pm.
6. Post Lunches. Served Monday through Saturday from 11: AM to 2:30 PM.Be sure to see our daily lunch specials near dining room entrance. We need your support in the dining room.
7: Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm: Wings & Tacos!! Other menu items available.
8. Take Out and Curbside. This service is currently available. Call ahead to order and then let us know when you are outside. 843-651-8784.
9. Members in Need. Please notify our Post Chaplin Joseph (Jabo) Harda at 304-479-1726 if you know of any member who is sick or in distress.
10. Juke Box Bingo is back with Rewind Social's "Kim Izzo", Saturday November 7th, 21st, and 28th at 6:00 PM. There will be a limited food menu available. Come out for the FUN. All ages welcome. November 28th is 70's night, wear you 70's attire.
